Traditional software architects face many new challenges in an increasingly complex and fast changing business environment. Project teams are adopting agile approaches to software and system development. Software architects sometimes find it difficult to adapt to the new 'agile' paradigm. These changes necessitate new approaches to being an IT architect in the 21st century. Anthony will explore some ways in which software architects can direct their efforts to meet these challenges.

The Project Management Institute (PMI) is a global organisation with over 260,000 members in 171 countries. The New Zealand Chapter, with over 1,500 members is the leading membership association for the project management profession locally. As an organisation, how can PMI support the Agile movement and in reality, does it? This presentation will explore common myths about PMI; what the PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK) has to say about Agile and how New Zealand organisations are using PMI and the PMBoK in Agile projects.
