Rolling out Agile in TOWER - a public retrospective
The TOWER group of companies has recently trialled the introduction of agile development(using Scrum) on a key customer facing project. This session, in the form of a scrum retrospective looks at:- - - The Good - what went well- - - The Bad - what was tried but needs to be improved upon- - - The Ugly - what was attempted but would not be done againThis talk is aimed at Business managers, IT managers, team leaders and team members who are thinking of introducing Agile into an organisation to help them understand the journey ahead of them. About the SpeakersMike Lopes is Head of Intermediary Distribution and has been with TOWER since September 2008. Previously Mike was with F&P Finance for 18 years. During this time, he was closely involved as a user of customer interfacing bespoke software programs. Whilst his IT knowledge is somewhat limited (most would say non-existent) he does understand what needs to be delivered and when. His experience with Agile has led him to have a new admiration for IT geeks. Nisha Clark is a veteran applications manager who has always strived to find the balance between delivering within a robust framework that allows cost, time and quality to be managed while being nimble enough to meet the demands and ever changing needs of the business, to find the nirvana called the "happy customer". Then after many coffee chats with agile zealots, Nisha decided to take a step cautiously onto the roller coaster to agile, where scrum masters run freely and business people happily embrace IT. Nisha will explain the effect agile has on a Senior IT Manager.David Gladstone has 17 years of experience as a developer. He has always had a peculiar fascination with engineering best practices and his recent involvement with agile development methods is a continuation of this passion.
