From Self-Organised Teams to a Self-Organised Organisation
The fit between Agile teams and traditional enterprise structures can be complex and challenging. How do we bring the concept of self-organized teams to the rest of the organisation? AdScale and many others think that Dynamic Self-Governance (DSG) bridges the gap between the agile approach to software development and agile business practices. It structures the entire ladder of management, including the board, to perform with agility and transparency in a trustworthy way.
We will give a short introduction to DSG concepts, including a description of how AdScale is applying them, followed by experiential exercises for the entire audience showing how to use the DSG concept of consent (not consensus) to elect people for tasks and responsibilities. This process will be a "take-away" for the evening.
Presentation will be by John Buck, resident of the USA and coauthor of We the People: Consenting to a Deeper Democracy, and Manfred Friedrich, Executive Director of AdScale Labs Ltd, will take no more than 45 minutes to allow time for Q&A.
Logistics: 5:30pm (for 6pm start) on Thursday 25th August 2011 at Allied Telesis' Training Room (same venue as July). Map link: http://goo.gl/S97B0
