Steve Lawrence - Bio
Stephen has over 17 years of experience in Client Services, Account and Project Management, within the Financial Services, Telco and I.T. sectors. His experience encompasses International Banking and Finance, Fund Management, Insurance and Telecommunications.
He has delivered large and complex projects using both Traditional and Agile approaches. As an example, he delivered the Number Portability application to Vodafone on time and budget using Agile development techniques (SCRUM) under very strict government mandated deadlines.
Steve is a leading Agile coach and practitioner, he has previously providing Agile coaching services to one of Australasia’s largest insurance and financial institutions. He was an integral part of a team employed to establish and drive an enterprise wide adoption of Agile delivery and management practises across the entire enterprise. Steve was responsible for the New Zealand clients within the organisation as well as providing agile coaching within an HR rollout and a BAU support area in Brisbane, Australia .
Steve also consults to a number of different organisations and assists with Agile implementation through training and mentoring and Agile Project Delivery. A number of government departments in New Zealand have utilised Steve to facilitate workshops and train project teams and managers on Agile techniques.
Steve has presented at the IBM Solutions for Change showcase under the heading “Improving Output through Agile Delivery”, He co-presented on Agile Project Management at the PMI Australia conference in 2010 and has also been a panellist at the 2010 Agile Australia conference on the topic – “Flavours of Agile”.
Steve is very focused on delivering greater value to clients – value in terms of strategic leadership and assisting organisations to become more efficient and effective. Agile is an excellent framework for accomplishing this.
As a senior Agile consultant and Agile practitioner, Steve is passionate about agile project management and Agile delivery techniques and recognizes an urgent need for these techniques in NZ and Australian businesses. In his words “NZ need to be doing things faster, cheaper and better than anyone else to compete on the world stage” – Agile is the means to accomplish this.
Steve has been a PMP since 2005 (although this may now have lapsed) and he is a certified Scrum Master and Scrum Practitioner.
